How to Survive a Zombie Apocalypse

You have every right to be afraid of a zombie apocalypse.
A lot of people are nowadays.

Not everyone fears it, of course. Some laugh and go on with life. But -- strangely -- a lot of people do fear a rise of the un-dead, and a lot of people are talking about it. People even want to know how to survive -- how to survive a zombie apocalypse. You want to know how to survive? Well, you came to SecretsofSurvival.com. I'm going to give you the best answer and you might want to pay attention. Here's your Zombie Survival Guide.

Yes, something is amiss in the world.

We have come so far as a planet. We have cars, planes, cell phones, computers, nuclear energy, bio-engineering. Technology has taken great leaps in the last few decades. We are building space ships and putting satellites into orbit and robots on other planets.

Zombies Among Us

But we carry something toxic within our DNA waiting to be unleashed it seems at certain moments. We can be a friend and lover in one instance, and then filled with rage, pride, and jealousy in another.

We have people who seem committed to the common good, and yet others who will murder, rape, steal, lie and cheat at every opportunity. And there are a lot of them.

Many people yearn for contact with an advanced civilization, but what if that advanced civilization wanted nothing to do with us?

Are We Toxic?

What if we are toxic? What if there is something toxic in our blood that makes this world an evil place? If you counted every good deed that ever took place and compared it to every evil deed that ever took place (and is taking place in the world right at this moment as you read this) does the good out weigh the bad?

My guess is no. We live in an evil world. The Bible says that God sees and knows all. It also says that in the end times of the present world Hell is unleashed on earth as one of many judgments against mankind for our long list of evil deeds (what the Bible calls sin).

That's exactly why we just might see a zombie apocalypse.

Revelation 6:8 - And I looked, and behold a pale horse: and his name that sat on him was Death, and Hell followed with him. And power was given unto them over the fourth part of the earth, to kill with sword, and with hunger, and with death, and with the beasts of the earth.

The Beasts of the Earth

The dead are rising. People are seeing ghosts. Some people say that they're demons. That's the rumor making it's way around the neighborhood. This is nothing new. You've heard the same thing on your TV more and more in the last few years. People claiming to be "ghost hunters"; others claiming to be in contact with spirits. Then of course there's those in the evangelical Christian community saying that these people are fools and all they're really doing is being deceived by demons.

Across the nation the electricity's been out for a few days. Everywhere. No power. No lights. And all you know is some scary things have been taking place in the darkness of the night after everything went down.

You're more inclined to believe that a zombie apocalypse might just be on the horizon. This isn't anything from the Bible. Somehow it's actually happening. Weird. All those zombie movies. People in the news getting high on bath salts and then becoming flesh-eating psychotics. Tons of zombie talk. Zombies on YouTube. And now this?

You decided a long time ago that Bible stories are the things of children. Noah's Ark, c'mon. Could a person really build a large boat and put two of every animal on it? You forget about God's involvement of course, and in your short-sightedness decide simply that the Bible's only good for old people, it gives them hope. Maybe when you're old and about to die, maybe then you'll believe.

But for now, you love your Playboy TV, tequila shots with your friends, and your girlfriend when she trusts you when you're in Vegas for that business convention. "Of course you can trust me" you've told your girlfriend a dozen times. Laugh. If she only knew. Besides, she gets drunk with her friends too. She's probably cheated herself, though you know it's better not to even bring it up. That's one thing you can agree with Jesus about, you've told yourself. He who is without sin cast the first stone. Laugh again.

Something Terrible Ahead

The world is a strange place.

Especially when a person looks at the Bible. God has brought the dead back to life a number of times.

Of course those who were brought back didn't look like zombies.

God has an intimate relationship with humans. He is very close, as the Bible says that all things were made in Christ, and there is nothing that exists apart from him (John 1). Christ is somehow the invisible force that holds all matter together. Perhaps scientists have gotten close to identifying the forces that keep all matter together throughout the universe... but an understanding of how it all works escapes their grasp. They just can't put a finger on it. The mysteries of the universe continue to be hidden from mankind.

Screams From the Darkness

Another long night passes. Another night of terror. Haunting screams sound through the neighborhood. Who was screaming though? Who would be outside at a time like this?

You, your girlfriend, your two close friends, and a family from down the street had all decided earlier in the day it would be best to work together, there is safety in numbers. During daylight planks came down off fences and one by one each of your windows had been boarded up; until you know what's going on it seemed like the right thing to do, to keep zombies from coming in through any windows. There might be zombies out there.

Whatever's going on, if the dead are rising, zombies might show up -- you tell yourself -- what else could this be?

With the power out and no communication with the outside world, you have no idea what's going on on the other side of town, if there's still another side of town that is. They might all be dead. Or you might be jumping to some seriously crazy conclusions, your imagination out of control, fear gripping your mind like a vice. This is crazy... A million thoughts flood your head. You just can't make sense of this.

Night of the Living Dead

God has a way of reaching people -- and he's going to reach people even as the horrors of the Book of Revelation are unleashed in the world in the end times as the Bible tells us is going to occur.

What an evil God, some people say, those who don't know the Bible. Why would God destroy mankind, his creation? And he's unleashing Hell? But that's only part of the story.

They miss the part where for the last two thousand years Jesus Christ, the Son of God, and revealed in Scripture to be God in the flesh, was offered to the world as a way for every man and woman to receive forgiveness of sins and a right relationship with God through "the obedience that comes by faith". God showed his love for us first -- even as we were dead in our sins that's when he came to us, as the Bible says.

But many in the world rejected him, even as they were warned that "the Day of the Lord" loomed ahead at some point in the future, when God's judgments against mankind for sin would begin to take place. In the eyes of God, we live in an evil world. Considering all the murder, rape, lies, betrayal, that plague mankind for thousands of years, even those who don't believe in God should be able to agree with that. Bad things happen in this world.

Very bad things.

Escape the Terror

We have to get out of here. We're sitting ducks in this house. There's got to be a place somewhere where we're not surrounded by howls and screams all night. But if we leave we'll be killed. Someone's going to shoot us. The world has gone mad.

Days Pass

You've seen zombies walking the streets in the moonlight. There are no streetlights, of course, or light from a nearby porch, only moonlight. The power is still out. It might be out for good. It probably is. No television, you don't have a radio, and you don't have any candles left. There are 8 of you huddled together in the house. During daylight hours you've boarded up all your windows, you even completely cut away the wooden front porch and rear deck from your home, ensuring that no zombies can reach your front door, or through the back. Each day drags by but you wish the days would never end. Not when it's the dark you fear so much and the terrors that come with the night.

"I Also Will Choose Their Delusions, and Will Bring Their Fears Upon Them"

Of course, leave it to your girlfriend to be the first one to go all "religious", to find a Bible up in a closet, one that she'd had since her teen years she says, though she never probably read it much you conclude.

But something weird happened, she points to a verse that she found, on the first page that she opened to. Look at this verse. Look at this verse. Did you just open to that? I did. You've got to be kidding me, that's weird.

Isaiah 66:4 - I also will choose their delusions, and will bring their fears upon them; because when I called, none did answer; when I spake, they did not hear: but they did evil before mine eyes, and chose that in which I delighted not.

We Need to Pray

Let's pray, she says. We need to start praying, all of us. We need to believe in God. It is absolutely crazy what is going on outside. There's no such thing as a zombie apocalypse. We didn't come this far in life just to find out it's all one big nightmare. That's proof that God exists.

For once your girlfriend seems to be making a lot of sense.

You're crazy, one of your friends says. How can you believe any of that crap? We're out of here.

"They refused to repent"

Revelation 16:8-10 - The fourth angel poured out his bowl on the sun, and the sun was allowed to scorch people with fire. They were seared by the intense heat and they cursed the name of God, who had control over these plagues, but they refused to repent and glorify him. The fifth angel poured out his bowl on the throne of the beast, and its kingdom was plunged into darkness. People gnawed their tongues in agony and cursed the God of heaven because of their pains and their sores, but they refused to repent of what they had done.

Hope from a Stranger

Hey, how are you all holding up? Someone from outside the neighborhood shows up the next day late in the morning. Relief. He bears good news that there are a lot of people living safely at one of the local churches outside of town. He says it's a safe zone. It's protected. By who you ask? But you already know the answer to that.

The guy seems to be in his right mind. You and your girlfriend and the family that had stayed by your side (even while your other two friends abandoned your group) decided it would be best to go with the stranger. Let's get out of here.

It's Worse than You Think

You find out that it's worse than you thought. A lot of people have died. Natural disasters are taking place across the world. Terrorist attacks. Massive war. Cities struck by nuclear weapons. Virus and disease killing people everywhere. The haze in the distance could be smoke from a burned out city 200 miles away. Or maybe it's a volcano or simply a forest fire. Wow, how could all this happen in just a few days of being cut-off from communication with the outside world?

It must be the end.

But as the Bible teaches -- you find out in the coming days -- the end is just the beginning. Yes, this world is going to experience a short time of devastation and darkness, what the Bible is believed to say will be seven years.

Thankfully God's got a way out for a lot of people, but it's too bad that it's going to take a lot of bad things taking place to bring people to a saving faith in Christ. It's going to truly take a "fear of the Lord" to bring people to repentance.

Now, those who receive faith in Christ before the judgments (a faith rooted in sincerity and love and the full Word of God, the Bible) can "escape all these things" (Luke 21:34-36). Those who don't find Christ until the judgments begin -- might wake up one day to what seems a lot like a zombie apocalypse as God unleashes the beasts of nightmare in order to terrify us and teach people what it means to fear the Lord. There are some scary beasts described in Revelation. We might see lions. We might see wolves. And we might see creatures out of human nightmare.

In a few places we just might see zombies as well. I wouldn't put anything past God. Not when he knows our fears so intimately.

But there's good news -- it's possible to survive a zombie apocalypse.

But it will take faith -- Faith in the Lord.

Luke 21:34-36 - "Be careful, or your hearts will be weighed down with carousing, drunkenness and the anxieties of life, and that day will close on you suddenly like a trap. For it will come on all those who live on the face of the whole earth. Be always on the watch, and pray that you may be able to escape all that is about to happen, and that you may be able to stand before the Son of Man."
